The Portsdown & Horndean Light Railway was once a main artery connecting Cosham (and Portsmouth) with Hambledon, Denmead, Waterlooville and Horndean. From the turn of the twentieth century until the mid-1930s, the P&HLR was a major feature of the environs of Portsmouth. Today only faint traces remain of the route.
