Devon General - A Fascinating Story
£20.00
Devon General has its roots as far back as 1919 when John Stuart Mill bought three open top solid-tyred buses to compete with the trams in Torquay. The coaching arm can be traced back even further to 1911. This well researched book not only details the growth of the company, but give all the bus routes and the places they served, often as publicised by the company at the time. Many of the personalities through the years are recalled, as well as fleet details from the early days through Nationalisation and to Privatisation. There are over 300 pages of facts and figures, details of depots and bus stations and nearly 200 photographs, including some in colour, showing not only the familiar vehicles, but also the various odd ones acquired along the way.
