Britain's DMUs: 1966-1985

Diesel Multiple Units, or DMUs, were first designed and introduced in the 1950s, but it wasn’t until the following decade that they became an iconic part of Britain’s rail network. The cleaner and faster trains increased traffic levels and were used on a variety of services varying from city commuter trains to middle-distance main line workings.
