Description / Remember the Trackless

A documentary specially compiled to commemorate the 40th anniversary of the closure of the much-loved trolleybuses of Mexborough, Swinton & Rotherham in the late 1920s, 1950s & 1960s. This is a magnificent collection of film, much in colour, recapturing the memories of the single-deckers in action along the length of the interurban. We follow the one-way wiring in Rotherham town centre & through all the industry near Don Bridge, snake through the old Rawmarsh, speed along Warren Vale, experience the exhilarating "up and under" at the canal & railway bridges at Swinton, power through the narrow streets of Mexborough, pause at Old Toll Bar depot; watch the trains at Deaby level crossing; tackle the hills near Conisbrough Castle; squeeze around the loop at Brooke Square. In Rotherham we see great central area scenes; rare glimpses at Maltby and Brecks; excellent coverage at Kimberworth to Thrybergh plus the sylvian road to Silverwood Colliery.
