Description / Passing of Pyewipe

A specially compiled video to celebrate the passing of the Grimsby & Immingham Electric Railway in July 1961. It features a rich mix of film, mostly in colour, of transport in and around Cleethorpes, Grimsby and Immingham including the Lincolnshire Coast Light Railway. We see ex-Newcastle and ex-Gateshead cars in service; revive memories of the Corporation Bridge to Cleveland Bridge section closed in 1956; join workers riding the full length of the line; watch reversals at Immingham town; spot the ex-works car in action; visit Pyewipe depot; soak up the atmospheric interior shots; follow the campaign to save the line; savour the last day activity and mourn the passing of Pyewipe. Includes rare film of Grimsby & Cleethorpes trolleybuses including centre-entrance vehicles, film of the joint route end to end and Cleethorpes trolleys in Walsall. Also features the New Holland ferry across the Humber with coal fired Castles, Tattersahll, Wingfield And Lincoln.
