Description / Leyland Buses of Leigh Corporation
Leigh was surrounded on all sides by other municipal and company operators of trams buses and trolleybuses, and yet it established a thriving bus service, which, by 1939 had a fleet of 40 vehicles, mostly of Leyland manufacture. The Second World War brought amazing prosperity to the transport undertaking and caused a doubling in fleet size for a while. Leigh Corporation Transport was absorbed into SELNEC in November 1969.
