Cliff Lifts of Great Britain

Clift Lists are a distinctly Victorian development. They first entertained seaside holiday makers in 1875. This DVD features both the ups and the downs of Britain’s Cliff Lifts. Nearly all of them are seen and archive footage used to show older cars in service. Using black & white still photographs and archive film, plus recent footage, the cliff funiculars and lifts of Great Britain are featured, with long lost examples being included along with those still in operation today. From Aberystwyth to Southend, fifteen locations are visited: Aberystwyth, Babbacombe, Bridgnorth, Bristol Clifton Rocks, Bournemouth, Folkstone, Hastings, Lynton – Lynmouth, Llwyngwern, Margate, Saltburn, Scarborough, Shipley Glen and Southend. Plus vertical lifts at Brighton, Ramsgate, Margate and Whitby.
